This journey started immediately after his season ended too early at last year’s regional tournament where Wilson reached the 160-pound consolation semifinal round.
7 years ago Foxcroft finishes second at Class B wrestling championship Wells ended up repeating as state champions (winning the crown for the fourth time in school history) as the Warriors scored 121 points to Foxcroft’s 105.5. Following in third place was Mount View High School of Thorndike at 73 points and tied for fourth place was Dexter and Medomak Valley High School of Waldoboro with 72.5 points apiece.

7 years ago FA’s Clukey wins conference title in 100 freestyle Foxcroft Academy senior Jenna Clukey captured the 100-yard freestyle title at the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) championship on Feb. 10 at the University of Maine. Clukey swam the 100 free in 55.19 seconds.
7 years ago Foxcroft Academy wrestling wins third consecutive regional championship The Foxcroft Academy wrestling team has been a force in the eastern/northern region for the last 20 years. Now the Ponies have won three straight Class B North titles -- and six of the last eight regional crowns as well as 11 in 17 years under head coach Luis Ayala -- after finishing in first place at the 2018 competition on Feb. 10 at Mount View High School. The Ponies earned 191.5 points, over 80 more than runner-up Dexter Regional High School with 109 points.

During the visit to Augusta, Ayala was honored before the House of Representatives with a legislative sentiment recognizing his accomplishment of being awarded the distinction of U.S. Cellular Most Valuable Coach.

But the Ponies may have taken that skill to a new level Saturday, Feb. 3 while capturing their third consecutive Penobscot Valley Conference championship at Sereyko Gymnasium on the campus of Penobscot Valley High School. The Ponies also won the conference title for the fifth time in six years.

7 years ago Greenville wins 13th consecutive game with victory at Penquis Since dropping the first two games of the season -- both dates happened to be away contests -- the Greenville High School boys basketball team has been on a roll with 12 straight wins. The Lakers increased the streak to a lucky 13 with a week left in the regular season after defeating Penquis Valley High School on the road 63-30 in an interclass matchup on Jan. 31.
