All five starters were back from the 2017 team that finished 20-2 and captured the Class D South championship before falling to Machias in the state title game.
7 years ago PVC senior all-star games tip off March 6 Mr. Basketball finalist Taylor Schildroth of George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and Miss Basketball finalist Kolleen Bouchard of Houlton will be among the participants in the annual Penobscot Valley Conference Classes C-D senior all-star basketball games to be played Tuesday, March 6 in Sereyko Gymnasium at Penobscot Valley High School in Howland. The games were moved up a day on account of a forecast winter storm. The girls game will tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the boys game at 6:30.
7 years ago Dexter’s Grant and Herrick selected for BDN All-Tourney Team Dexter Regional High School freshmen Peyton Grant and Avery Herrick both starred in their first career tournament games at the Cross Insurance Center and were honored for their play by being chosen as two of five players on the 2018 Bangor Daily News All-Tourney Team for Class C North.
7 years ago Greenville repeats as D South champions with 43-28 victory over AR Gould After jumping out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter of the 2018 Class D South championship on Feb. 24 at the Augusta Civic Center against Arthur R. Gould High School of South Portland, the Greenville High School boys saw the team’s advantage slowly shrink and then disappear in the third quarter. But the Lakers responded in a big way during the fourth quarter with a 13-1 run and 16-3 advantage in the final 8-minute session to win the regional title for the second year in a row against the Bears.

7 years ago Bouchard lifts Houlton past Dexter to claim fourth straight regional title The Miss Maine Basketball semifinalist used the move to nail a game-tying 3-pointer from the left side with 24.1 seconds remaining in regulation and her free throw with 2:18 left in overtime broke a 30-30 tie, enabling the top-seeded Shires to survive a stiff test from the youthful Dexter Tigers 33-30 in their Class C North championship game Feb. 24 at the Cross Insurance Center.
7 years ago Tiger girls shut down Calais to earn spot in regional final The 11th-seeded Calais High School girls basketball team entered the Feb. 23 Class C North semifinal against second seed Dexter averaging 64.8 points per game. Its season low was 48 in a loss to undefeated Houlton on Jan. 10. But Dexter turned in a smothering defensive performance, limiting the Blue Devils to a 19.4 percent shooting performance en route to a 36-15 victory at the Cross Insurance Center.

On Feb. 20 the top-seeded Shiretowners improved to 10-0 in regional play at the facility with a resounding 65-26 Class C North quarterfinal victory over No. 8 Piscataquis Community High School of Guilford.
