October Grange events

Saturday, Oct. 1, from 5-6:30 p.m., a public meatloaf supper will be served at Dexter’s Wayside Grange. The menu includes mashed potatoes, salad, veggies, assorted desserts, lemonade and pretty good coffee. Wayside Grange is located at 861 North Dexter Road (Route 23). Thursday, Oct. 6 Piscataquis Pomona Grange meets at the Garland Grange for a potluck supper at 6 p.m. with the meeting following at 7 p.m. All area Grange members are invited. Garland Grange is located on Oliver Hill Road. For more information, contact Bill Bemis at 924-4123.

Friday, Oct. 7 Garland Grange’s popular monthly public supper will be one week earlier than usual. Come for a traditional New England Boiled Dinner served from 5-7 p.m. – it’s is all you can eat. Call 924-4123 for more information.

Saturday, Oct. 8 Parkman Grange will partner with the American Red Cross on a blood drive from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. Local bakers will be making pies to sweeten the deal for donors. For more, contact Susan Manchester at 277-3942. Parkman Grange is located at the four corners.

Friday, Oct. 21 Valley Grange meets for a potluck supper at 6 p.m. with the regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Meeting will include updates for Dictionary Days and this year’s bookworm schedule. all are invited. Saturday. Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. the Gawler Family Band performs at the Wayside Theatre. The group is a fun-loving, folk-singing, fiddle-playing family of five plus one in-law who play an assortment of old and new sounds from many folk traditions. They partner interweaving family harmonies with fiddles, banjo, wooden banjo, cello, guitar, ukulele and piano and a few other surprises. Oct. 29 is the date for the Parkman Grange Halloween Party from 1-3 p.m. Lots of tricks and treats make this a fun party for local kids. For more, contact Manchester at 277-3942.
