Dover travel team wins Howland tourney
HOWLAND — The Dover travel team kicked off the season at the Howland Youth Soccer Tournament on Sept. 10. It was a great day of soccer as teams from Milo, Millinocket, Lee, Lincoln, Howland and Dover played at Penobscot Valley High School.

TOURNEY CHAMPS — The Dover travel team is the 2016 Howland Youth Soccer Tournament champions. The squad finished the Sept. 10 event with a record of 4-1.
The Dover team made up of fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders went 4-1 on the day. The squad started the tournament playing a very good Milo team, Dover came up short losing 4-2. Next up was a 6-1 win vs. Millinocket and a 6-0 victory over Lincoln.
These victories helped Dover get into the semifinals vs. Howland. At the end of regulation the semifinal ended 2-2. The game went to penalty kicks and Dover came out victorious.
In the finals Dover once again faced Milo. The team and coaches learned a lot from the first time they played this team, and they made some adjustments to help the team come out victorious for a 2-1 win. Everybody played hard and contributed to the victory. After a long hot day it was all worth it as they were tournament champions.
