SEBEC VILLAGE LIBRARY Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, a volunteer-run library is now open in the Sebec Village Reading Room. The library is open on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m.  and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Located in the Reading Room in the heart of Sebec Village, the library now houses an extensive collection of adult fiction. There are so many titles from which to select that additional shelves will be installed later in the summer.

Adult non-fiction offers an array of subject matter, particularly regarding general historical subjects. However, everything from self-help to knitting can be found. Contemporary biographies are also available.

Children’s books for all levels of reading are also offered; there are even cardboard books for toddlers. Library officials anticipate a children’s story hour starting in the summer of 2017.

The Sebec Village Associates thanks the generosity of the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation for their support of this project and Helen Austin at the Thomas Free Library in Dover-Foxcroft for a sizeable donation of books.

The library is growing and will thrive with community support. Those involved with the library are looking for additional books for children, tweens and teens in good condition, and they are particularly interested in acquiring book series. Maine subjects and books written and/or illustrated by Maine authors as well as Maine historical subject matter are also in demand. Those with books in great condition who are willing to donate are asked to please contact Barbara Mauzy at 564-3232 or Sue Small at 564-7079.
