MEMORIAL DAY IN GUILFORD

Observer photo/Stuart Hedstrom The Memorial Day procession in Guilford on May 30, which included American Legion Post 119 of Guilford and Post 165 of Sangerville, a rifle unit from the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office, the Piscataquis Community High School band and Cub Scout Pack 61 of Sangerville, paused for a pair of ceremonies at the Guilford Memorial Bridge over the Piscataquis River. First a memorial wreath was tossed into the water and then the reconstructed bridge was rededicated to the honor and sacrifice of all the community’s veterans.
