Lineup set for Pine Tree Hospice’s Variety Show on April 26

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On April 26 at 6 p.m. the doors will open at the Center Theatre for Pine Tree Hospice’s much-anticipated annual Variety Show, a collection of outstanding talents brought to the theatre from all over the world. The guitar duo of Mingchuan Liu and Zhenjie Xu will play as guests flow through the lobby to their seats. These two Foxcroft Academy students have brought their skills from China and Guangzhou and enhanced them here in Dover by studying with Peter McGuire.

VARIETY SHOW — Taking part in Pine Tree Hospice’s annual Variety Show on the evening of Friday, April 26 at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft will be, from left, Piscataquis Regional YMCA ballet class dancers Noa Clark, Natalie Cavanagh, Lilly Makowski and Leora Brochu, all of Dover-Foxcroft. The show itself will begin at 7 with welcoming remarks and The Parade of Sponsors, to be followed by eight acts, including dance performances from Rebeclyn Parker, an 11-year-old from Dexter who will do a clogging routine to the Miley Cyrus song “Hoedown Throwdown” and instructor Abby Wedge’s Piscataquis Regional YMCA ballet class.
Well-traveled harpist Isleen Halvorsen, who has played with Nassau Symphony Pops and toured Europe with a production of “Encounter 500” and “A Chorus Line”, will perform a duet with singer Megan Spooner and a solo piece. Other musical acts will include songs from vocalists Mya Young and Diane Lord; a performance by the Provenzano Sisters, talented triplets in their sophomore year at John Bapst; and a rousing jam session from the Monson General Store Jammers. The Slightly Off-Center Players will also perform a Radio Show.
Pine Tree Hospice, the founder of this annual event, is a non-profit organization that offers support to those in times of grief. Pine Tree Hospice has been serving the Dover-Foxcroft community for more than 25 years with the motto, “We can’t add days to your life, but we can add life to your days.”
The organization provides non-medical care and child and adult bereavement support through its many different programs, workshops, and much more–all for no charge to the client.
Admission to this year’s Variety Show will be by donation only, and all proceeds from this event will go toward Pine Tree Hospice’s efforts to help those in need.
