GORHAM – Colleen “Sue” Belanger, 85, passed away peacefully after a long illness on May 7, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Predeceased by her parents, Hilmor Edward and Jenne Smith Larson, Sue was the second oldest of twelve children and grew up in Brownville, ME, graduating from Brownville Jct. High School in 1948.

Sue moved to Boston shortly after graduating where she worked until she married, John “Jack” Belanger of Quincy, MA, in 1955. The couple resided in Quincy and had one child, Nanette. The family moved to Randolph, MA, in 1965. During this time, Sue embraced her role of wife, mother and homemaker to her family. In 1975, Sue and Jack relocated to Laurel, MD, where Sue pursued and achieved a very successful career in real estate; being recognized many times as one of the leading sales persons for the largest real estate firm in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Sue is survived by her husband of 60 years, and their daughter, Nanette, both of Gorham; siblings, Patricia Danahy of Louisville, KY, Roger (Teresa) of Northfield, CT, Charles (Selma) of Brownville, ME, Galen (Joan) of Milo, ME, Lawrence (Gail) of Randolph, MA, Verna (John) Mullen of Mesa, AZ, Gary Elaine of Dover-Foxcroft, ME, and Marea (Norman) Brewer of South Riding, VA; brother-in-law, Ronald MacKenzie of Millinocket, ME; many nieces and nephews; and her dearest friend, Jeannie Pick Issacs of Palo Alto, CA.

Sue was predeceased by her brothers, Stanley in Korea, and Ronald of Brownville Jct.; sister, Doretta MacKenzie of Bantam, Ct; brother-in-law, Alan Danahy of Louisville; and sister-in-law, Ann of Brownville Jct., ME.

A memorial service was held for friends and family on Sat., May 14, at 12:30 p.m. at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham.
