SOUNDS OF “THE SOUND OF MUSIC” The Von Trapp children learn “Do-Re-Me” from Maria during a youth production of “The Sound of Music” at the Center Theatre. From left are Ingrid Halvorsen, Emily DeRespino, Elora Kares, Abby Kemp, Hannah Poland, Jorgen Halvorsen, Rebeclyn Parker and Markis Robbins.

The production, sponsored by Will’s Shop’n Save, includes area kids from 4-16 performing a youth version of the classic story that has been a favorite for audiences for over 50 years. The show includes the songs that everyone loves like “Do,Re,Me” and “Favorite Things”.

“The kids are amazing,” said Executive Director Patrick Myers. “They have worked very hard for about two months to bring this show to life ‚Ä“ and they’ve done a wonderful job.” According to Myers there were many others involved in making the performance a success including the director David Murray; Musical Director Deb Fournier; Stage Manager Joshua Kelley; Set Designer Trisha Smith; and Wendy Voter and Heidi Erspamer who worked on the costumes.

“There are so many others from the stage crew, volunteers and of course the parents,” Myers said. “We’re also very lucky to have some talented musicians who are adding to the atmosphere of the show. Instead of the standard piano accompaniment the Theatre is lucky to have Isleen Halvorsen on harp and Deb Fournier on flute joining Heather Kares on the piano. Their professionalism and talent adds a wonderful layer to the performance.”

The public has three more chances to see the show: Saturday the 30th at 2 and 7 p.m., and the final performance will be Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m.
