Health council and partners to sponsor cooking matter classes

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Cooking Matters Maine is a partnership between Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit, and the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Here in Piscataquis County, the Cooking Matters Maine staff has trained Piscataquis Public Health Council staff Elaine Bisbee, RN and Hilary London, RD, LD, to offer cooking and nutrition education classes.

Nutrition educators and community volunteers including Chef Arlene Goldstein, an experienced chef from New York City and locally at Stutzman’s Farm bakery, will be teaching participants about good nutrition and how to prepare healthy, tasty meals and snacks for their families. Each class series also includes a grocery shopping tour highlighting how to shop for nutritious foods on a budget.
The Penquis Valley Adult Education Cooperative will be hosting the first free adult class series at SeDoMoCha Middle School weekly from April 30 to June 4. For more information, or to enroll, please contact the PVAEC at 564-6525.
