NOT QUITE THE CATCH OF THE DAY — Troy Lambert of Mt. Vernon holds the salmon he caught during last year’s Schoodic Lake Ice Fishing Derby, after Ricky Bradeen of the Milo Fire Department weighed and measured the 3.8-pound and 22-inch fish. Despite the mild winter, the 54th edition of the derby is still on as anglers — who are urged to be as cautious as possible on the ice — can fish in Schoodic, Ebeemee, Seboeis and Boyd lakes in eastern Piscataquis County. For updates on ice conditions as the Feb. 13-14 event approaches, please go to www.trcmaine.org/fishingderby or “Schoodic Lake Ice Fishing Derby” on Facebook.
