GFWC/Miosac Club shows the real meaning of Christmas

By Minnie McCormick

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Thirteen members and one guest met at the beautifully decorated home of Barb Austin on Dec. 8 with joy, love, friendship and sharing. Members brought either something sweet or savory to share. As we sampled the food, members visited and shared greetings.

In November, members drew names and purchased a toy that reminded us of that person. In turn, each chose a gift to unwrap and members had to guess who it was for. Some were right on and others had to be carefully thought about. About 20 toys were unwrapped with joy and laughter and went to the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Community Christmas Project.

Members then enjoyed a photo shoot with items and a frame provided by the hostess.Santa’s hat, scarves, glasses, were enjoyed as they posed with other members — a fun time for all.

Prior to the Christmas gathering, Miosac elves shopped in Bangor for three children adopted by the GFWC/Miosac Club. They also shopped for names for the Kiwanis. They reported they had a good time shopping and were very pleased with the amount of gifts they purchased. This is a continuing project of the club. Many children will have a happy Christmas morning, thanks to the efforts of GFWC/Miosac Club and Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from the GFWC/Miosac Club.
