Historical Society collecting recipes for Bicentennial Cookbook

GUILFORD — The Guilford Historical Society Bicentennial Fundraiser Committee is collecting recipes for a cookbook to be sold at events throughout 2016 while celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Town of Guilford. This is a chance to submit a favorite family recipe(s) that could be included in this keepsake.

All recipes will be considered. Organizers are looking for recipes from current or previous residents of Guilford, their ancestors or anyone with ties to Guilford, in the following categories: appetizers and beverages, soups and salads, vegetables and side dishes, main dishes, breads and rolls, desserts, cookies and candy and this and that.

The cookbooks will be professionally published in spiral bound hardback cover and will contain special pages of interest pertaining to Guilford, helpful cooking hints and more. Your name and/or ancestor’s name will be printed with the recipe along with additional notes if desired.

The deadline to submit recipes is Jan. 1, 2016. The committee plans to have the cookbook available for sale in time for the potluck annual town meeting on March 21, 2016 at PCES starting at 5:30 p.m. The committee may be serving some of Guilford’s “home cooked” recipes from the new cookbook. And, don’t miss the last ticket drawing of the Bicentennial Raffle Calendar to be drawn at the town meeting.

Committee members Nathalee Marsh, Pam Goulette, Nena Schultz and Cindy Woodworth are now collecting recipes. Submitting a recipe(s) can be as simple as making a photocopy and mailing to: Guilford Historical Society, PO Box 893, Guilford, ME 04443. To request a recipe application, request pre-orders or for more information contact butterwood198@gmail.com or 217-0963. Please include contact information in any correspondence.
