Monday, Oct. 5 Valley Grange celebrates Dictionary Day with third-graders from SeDoMoCha Elementary School. Students will arrive at the Valley Grange Hall at 12:30 p.m. for a short presentation and leave with each clutching his or her own dictionary. Friday, Oct. 9 Garland Grange hosts a public boiled dinner from 5 -7 p.m.. Menu includes ham and corned beef, plus local vegetables, homemade bread and desserts. For more call 924-6954.

Saturday, Oct. 10 Wayside Grange will serve a meatloaf supper from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with live music. Menu includes scalloped potatoes, winter squash, desserts, pretty good coffee and lemonade. Tuesday, Oct. 13 Valley Grange Bookworms will visit with PCES second- and third-graders to kick off the annual Bookworm Program. Bookworms visit the school twice per week to listen to students read. Friday, Oct. 16 area families are invited to attend a community potluck supper at Valley Grange from 6-7 p.m., bring a dish to share. Supper will include a “Family Safety Fair” featuring information and resources for keeping families safe. At 7:15 p.m. “Mr. Boomsma” will present the NRA’s Eddie Eagle Gun Safety Program a gun accident prevention program that seeks to help parents, law enforcement, community groups and educators navigate a topic paramount to our children’s safety. Eddie and his Wing Team are on a mission to help teach pre-K through fourth-graders what to do if they ever come across a gun. Saturday, Oct. 24 Wayside Grange sponsors a concert at 7 p.m. by The Doughty Hill Band with an engaging mix of bluegrass, folk, rock, Irish, and blues with tight harmonies and virtuoso leads.
