Girl Scout collecting for Threads for Hope project

GREENVILLE — You may have seen a drop box at C. A Dean lately. That’s because local Girl Scout, Jessica Cobb, is on a mission. She is creating an project called Threads for Hope. She is doing this to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can achieve. Cadettes range from grades 6-8. This award challenges Cobb to provide a community service that requires at least 50 hours of her own time and that will continue past her involvement.

Threads for Hope is a project that creates support bags for cancer patients and others with health needs in the community. The goal is that each bag will contain a handmade blanket, hat, and port protector. That’s where Jessica needs your help. She needs your help to fill these bags. If you can knit, crochet, or quilt, there will be a box at Charles A. Dean Hospital, near registration. This dropbox is for blankets and hats to fill the bags. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at any time. Please leave  your contact information with your donation. Cobb will be sewing the port protectors.

If you or someone you know is ever in need of one of these bags, the complete product will be available at Northwoods Healthcare. You may also contact Cobb at 695-2669.

Editor’s note: This press release was submitted by Jessica Cobb, a member of Girl Scout Troop 710 in Greenville as part of her Threads for Hope project for her Silver Award.
