DOVER-FOXCROFT — Dover Cove Farmers’ Market is committed to making fresh food available to everyone in the Maine Highlands region, and has welcomed SNAP/EBT as well as credit/debit cards since 2013.
In 2014, Jackie Robinson of Leaves and Blooms Greenhouse, Natasha Colbry of Spruce Mill Farm and Sarah Robinson, community volunteer successfully raised local funds to support a “Double Your Dollars” program for SNAP/EBT purchases. This year, new grant funds from USDA’s Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive (FINI) are available for fresh fruit and vegetable purchases made at the market.
SNAP/EBT shoppers who spend $10 or more are eligible for up to $10 in matching funds to spend on locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Market volunteers are available to answer questions about the program at every farmers’ market throughout the season.
Dover Cove Farmers’ Market is located at 1033 South Street (in the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce parking lot) and runs Tuesdays 2-6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. through October.
