Thompson Free Library summer events
DOVER-FOXCROFT — A scavenger hunt kicked off the summer reading program at the Thompson Free Library on July 7. During this week children may sign up for the summer reading program that will run through Aug. 14, it will be an independent reading program with some library interactions throughout the six weeks.
The special library events for children all start at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. The first program begins July 8 with a “Wetlands” presentation put on by L.C. Bates from Goodwill-Hinckley. This will be followed by Antonio Rocha and “Jungle Tales” on July 15, Chewonki with “Tide Pools” on July 22 and on July 29 Linda Clewley from Mapleshade Farm will have her goats and her delicious goat cheeses for sampling. Terri Kelly Palin will assist with making “Creative Recycled Crowns” on Aug. 5. The final program on Aug. 12 is with Tim Caverly and his “Allagash Tales.”
On July 14 from 6-8 p.m. there will be a program for adults on “Maine Crime Writers: Writing with Sense of Place”. Three Maine writers, Maureen Milliken, Brenda Buchanan and Vaughn Hardacker, will talk about their writing experiences and answer questions.
Michelle from the library will be working with MMSA and the STEM program as a presenter during the Science Club program at SeDoMoCha Middle School. This program is for grade 5-8 students and will happen on July 21 from 8:30 –11:30 a.m. Michelle will be showcasing the library’s new science tools, a microscope and 3-D printer.
