Raymond “Buffy” G. Butterfield

BROWNVILLE, ME & FLORIDA – Raymond “Buffy” Butterfield died January 8, 2015, in Florida, after a three year battle with Cancer. He was born Raymond G. Butterfield on June 24, 1938, to Marion (Sanborn) Butterfield and Francis Hartwell Butterfield in Brownville Jct.
    He graduated from Brownville Jct. High School in 1957 and soon after enlisted in the U.S.M.C. where he proudly served four years active duty. He later served several years in the Maine Air National Guard.
    He was most recently involved with the Marine Corps League Detachment #1151 in Bangor, and was a member of the American Legion Post #92 of Brownville, Jct. He was a member of the Pleasant River Lodge #163 AM & FM in Brownville.
    He worked for 38 years at the Great Northern Paper Co, retiring in 1994. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, especially going to Florida in the winter.
    He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Boneta (Stubbs) Butterfield; a daughter, Michelle Butterfield of Milo; and a very special granddaughter, Flora Lea Butterfield of Milo. He also leaves behind a very special four-legged friend, Lily. He is also survived by three brothers, Clifton Stone of Holiday, FL, Prof. Allan Butterfield of Lexington, KY, and William Butterfield of Stephens City, VA. As well as a favorite aunt, Faye Butterfield of Situate, MA; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
    He was predeceased by his wonderful step-mother, Gwen (Butterfield) Knowles and her husband, Ken (Grampy) Knowles.
    Buffy loved his family, friends and country.
