Track and field results

The Dexter boys scored 68 points to place fourth out of nine teams during a May 21 meet at the University of Maine in Orono.

Valentin Nekrasov was the meet winner in the 200 as he ran the event in a time of 24.43 seconds. Nekrasov also was the runner-up in the 100 at 12.15 seconds, and he ran the third leg of the second-place 4×400 relay team. Brandon Allen, Zachary Caron, Nekrasov and Zachary White combined for a time of 3:43.64.

Caron came in first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 8 inches. He also placed second in the triple jump at 39-06.50. Allen was third in the high jump at 5-04, and third in the long jump at 19-00.50.

Dexter had fourth and sixth place in both the discus and shot put. Joseph Hubbell came in fourth in the discus at 95-02 and in sixth place was Torin Smith at 88-08. Tanner Hall placed fourth in the shot at 35-09 and in sixth place was Hubbell with a throw of 33-05.50.

Also placing for the Tigers was White, sixth in the 100 at 12.58 seconds, and Dillon Austin, sixth in the javelin at 108-07.

The Penquis boys tallied 24 points to place sixth at UMaine.

Dylan LaLime was the meet’s long jump runner-up at a distance of 19-02. He also came in fourth in the high jump at 5-02. LaLime ran the first leg of the third-place 4×100 relay, being followed by Joshua Martin, Michael Vachon and Clayton Preble for a time of 49.36 seconds.

Martin added a third-place finish in the javelin with a top throw of 130-10.

In the girls’ meet, Dexter came fifth of nine teams with 24 points.

Sarah Vigue had the second-best javelin throw at 81-07. She also came in fourth in the discus at 77-01, and anchored the sixth-place 4×100 relay. Tasha Pratt, Lily Cummings, Autumn Nickerson and Vigue ran a time of 60.33 seconds.

Cummings came in third in the 400 at 1:07.92 and Nickerson placed fifth in the javelin at 70-03. Kaitlyn Paquin was fifth in the shot at 25-09.25 and she also was sixth in the discus at 69-05.

Sixth in the team standings were the girls from Penquis with 18 points.

Kayla Harmon had the day’s best throw in the javelin at a distance of 82-10. Coming in second in the triple jump was Jordan Durant at 30-07.

PCHS’ Lexi Harris scored her team’s two points in the 800, as the Pirates finished ninth at UMaine. Harris ran the 800 in 2:44.02.

At Old Town on May 23 the Foxcroft boys came in third of seven point-scoring schools with a score of 103.

Peter Boyer had a big day by sweeping the throwing events. Boyer won the shot at exactly 50 feet, took first-place honors in the discus at 130-06 and was the meet winner in the javelin with a throw of 133-07.

Cooper Nelson won the 1,600 in 4:54.47. Finishing second in the 4×100 relay was Foxcroft at 46.03 seconds, with the team made up of Jason Eubanks, Julian Zepeda, Dylan Richards and Sebastian Zepeda.

Coming in third for the Ponies was Julian Zepeda in the 100, 11.93 seconds; Zhe Chen in the 110 hurdles, 19.16 seconds, and 300 hurdles, 47.69 seconds; Gabe Piquette in the 3,200, 11:40.96; and the 4×800 relay (Liam Casey, Kelly Erickson, Nathnael Feleke and Kohei Kotani) at 9:45.83.

Chen was fourth in the long and triple jumps at respective distances of 18-04 and 37-01 as was Julian Zepeda in the 200 at 24.60 seconds and Sebastian Zepeda in the 400 at 57.11 seconds.

Placing fifth was Richards in the 100 at 12.10 seconds, Paul Birtwistle in the 400 at 58.03 seconds and Piquette in the 1,600 at 5:20.80.

Sixth-place performers were Diamond in the 100 at 12.19 seconds and in the 200 at 25.10 seconds as well as Erickson in the 1,600 at 5:25.65.

The boys from Greenville came in sixth with eight points. Evan Sullivan accounted for all eight points by coming in second in the javelin with a throw of 129-00.

The Foxcroft girls came in fifth of eight teams with a score of 43 points.
