Center Theatre to host Nepal benefit concert

Concert to include Castlebay

DOVER-FOXCROT — The Center Theatre announced that they will be holding a benefit concert to support the relief efforts in Nepal. The concert will take place Saturday May 24 at 2 p.m. with admission by donation. The idea for the concert came from Lou Harper with the Dexter Brass who is working to assemble a slate of acts for the event. Currently on the program along with Dexter Brass are the renowned folk duo Castlebay.

Castlebay started in 1987, performing and promoting the music of Maine and the Celtic lands of Scotland and Ireland. Castlebay regularly tours throughout the eastern U.S. performing at arts centers, festivals, folk clubs, schools and libraries. They have toured the United Kingdom annually since 1993. They have collaborated with performers there on several CDs and also composed music for a major work presented at the Celtic Connections Festival, Glasgow, Scotland, in 2001.

The Dexter Brass are a well-known community band that performs often throughout the year at events and concerts. Lou Harper, who plays in the band, is also recruiting other groups to take part in the concert. Updates can be found at www.centertheatre.org and the fheatre’s Facebook page. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Center Theatre Box office during regular business hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
