Davis named to national panel

PO DAVISNCSL050615 15069863    AUGUSTA — State Sen. Paul Davis (R-Sangerville) has been named to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Standing Committee on Legislative Effectiveness as a representative of the Maine Senate.
The NCSL’s nine standing committees allow legislators and staff to benefit from the experiences of other states in shaping public policy, experimenting with new laws, and managing the legislative institutions.

“I am pleased to be appointed to the national Legislative Effectiveness committee,” said Davis. “We can always do more to ensure that the work of the people is being carried out efficiently and effectively. I look forward to learning from other states’ successes and challenges, and to sharing what we do well here in Maine with my colleagues from across the country.”
Davis served eight years in the Maine Senate – including one term as minority leader – and six years in the Maine House. He returned to the Senate in 2014.
He currently serves as chair of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, and as a member of the Taxation Committee and the Government Oversight Committee.
Davis spent 23 years as a Maine state trooper, serving primarily in Piscataquis County. He also served six years in the Army National Guard.
A member of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Board of Directors, he is an avid hunter, fisherman, and snowmobiler.
Davis and his wife, Patricia, have two grown children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
