Second annual Guilford clean-up day set for May 9

GUILFORD, Maine — The town of Guilford is looking for some volunteers who don’t mind getting a little dirty for a good cause.
The second annual Guilford Community Pride Clean Up Day is set for Saturday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The first event last year was organized by Julie Porter-Chase and 31 people participated, said Guilford Town Manager Tom Goulette. “We would like to get more this year because of the rough winter we’ve had,” he said. “When the snowbanks melt, you find quite a mess underneath.” Porter-Chase will also be assisting with this year’s clean up.

New Balance is supplying the trash bags again this year, Goulette’s IGA is donating disposable gloves and water and all participants will be treated to a free barbecue after the clean-up at the Red Maple Inn.
Anyone who would like to participate should meet at the town office parking lot on the day of the event at 8 a.m.
Individuals, organizations and businesses are all encouraged to help out, Goulette said.
Updated information will be posted on the Guilford Maine Community Pride Clean Up Day Facebook page.
