Dufault retires from Sangerville library

By Beth Ranagan

LO-Dufault-DCX-PO-9    SANGERVILLE — After 11 years of service, Thelma Dufault retired from the Sangerville Public Library on Feb. 27. Library patrons knew her as the familiar, friendly and helpful assistant librarian during her time of employment.
Librarian Linda Hall described Dufault as “enthusiastic, conscientious, and very well liked. People coming into the library were always glad to see her. Thelma always did her job very well.”

Dufault moved from Pittsfield to Sangerville when she was in high school. She graduated from Sangerville High School in 1949, after which she lived in town and raised her family.
She came to work at the library 11 years ago through the National ABLE Network, which connects mature worker participants to work-based training. Not long afterwards, she became a direct employee of the library. “I have enjoyed all aspects of the job, especially meeting and seeing the people each work day,” she said.
Following her retirement, she will travel to South Carolina for her grandson’s wedding. The wedding will take place on a plantation about which she said, “I’m really looking forward to that.” Dufault  also looks forward to visiting her grown children who live in Virginia and Florida. When she is home in Sangerville, she plans to walk daily, read, do crosswords, and enjoy bingo with her friends.
The Library Board of Trustees honored her with a party and best wishes on Feb. 26. “She will be very much missed,” Hall said.
