Thanks for Bikes for Books support

To the Editor:
We are pleased to announce the Bikes for Books program at Piscataquis Community Elementary School as a community project this year.
Youngsters from grades K-6 are encouraged to read as many books as possible now through mid-April and write a report about the content.

For each book read, the youngster receives a ticket. All the tickets collected go into a drum and seven boys’ and seven girls’ names — one from each grade — will be drawn on Friday, April 17. The winners will receive a bike and a helmet.
The Anah Temple Shrine Clowns will also be at school that day, making it a really fun event.
The Masons of Mt. Kineo Lodge No. 109 in Guilford are heading up the program. But without the generosity of the local business and Granges, the funding for the bikes would not be possible. Thus, there would not be a project for the students to benefit from.
So, hat’s off and many thanks to all the business and Granges that opened their wallets for this worthwhile program, where everyone comes out a winner.  Also, thank you to the staff at Piscataquis Community Elementary School for all that you are doing to make this a big success.
