    Much like the IRS scams, fraudsters may be impersonating the attorney general and threatening consumers with arrest unless a supposed debt is immediately paid. Don’t fall for it! Here’s what you need to know as you hang up on calls and delete emails without opening links or attachments: The office of the attorney general, law enforcement or federal agencies do not work on behalf of third-party collectors, much less threaten arrest for unpaid debts. If you legitimately owe something, you will receive a letter, not an abusive phone call.
