Say ‘no’ to porn

To the Editor:
I would like the readers of this paper to think about the articles in this letter. When you have a person running for Congress, governor or president and you have people asking, “What can you do for me?” Ask yourself, were these people raised by over-protective parents?

The reason I say “no” to legalizing marijuana: when you have about 3,800 MaineCare patients that are being treated at 11 methadone clinics statewide, you have to ask yourself, how many of the 3,800 patients started out smoking marijuana?
I think there is a very strong “link” between some men going to strip clubs, subscribing to porn magazines, cable TV or on the Internet. Because, after a while, too many men can “develop a mental disorder” and you end up with hundreds of women and young boys and girls being sexually assaulted each year in Maine and you cannot leave out weak (sick) men downloading child porn. These men don’t care about the lives they destroy as long as they fill their lust.
Men must have the moral courage to say “no” to porn or going to strip clubs, and don’t worry what other men will think of you. Let them worry about keeping up their image.
Philosopher Edmund Burke made it plain. He said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
