Bowerbank Days returns this weekend

BOWERBANK — Every five years Bowerbank Days returns to the community of 100-plus citizens and more seasonal residents on the shores of Sebec Lake and in 2024 the festival features events in the village on the evening of Friday, Aug. 9 and throughout the day on Saturday, Aug. 10.

On Friday a chili cookoff starts at 5 p.m. (to enter email kdreves@yahoo). This will be followed by an auction at 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Doc & the Diva Band perform, bring lawn chairs and blankets. 

Registration for the Gary Wakeland Memorial 5K road race will begin at 7 a.m. at the fire station on Saturday prior to the starting gun at 8 a.m. T-shirts go to the first 40 runners to register and prizes will be awarded to various age group winners.

THE DISHES NEED TO BE DONE — The Camp Timberboo float travels past the fire station during the 2019 Bowerbank Days parade. Every five years the community in the woods on the shore of Sebec Lake celebrates with several days of events with the 2024 edition on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10.

The Bowerbank Days parade begins at 10 a.m. as the procession travels through town. To be part of the procession, email swettcc@yahoo.com.

A historical display will be available for viewing starting at 10:30 a.m.with an ax and skillet toss at 11 a.m.

The Northern Gray Band performs at 1 p.m.

The boat parade on Sebec Lake begins at 5 p.m. at the boat launch.

Throughout the day on Saturday will be food trucks, craft vendors, a Civil War encampment, children’s events.
