GFWC/Miosac Club learns of Riverfront Restoration Project

DOVER-FOXCROFT — GFWC/Miosac Club met at Thayer Parkway on Nov. 4 with 16 members and one guest attending.
Mae Johnson introduced Town Manager, Jack Clukey, who gave a PowerPoint presentation of the Riverfront Restoration Project. It was very informative as well as interesting. Many questions were asked regarding what would be available there. There are 22 apartments, a cafe and a boutique plus other things. It will be a beautiful place when it is all done and landscaped.

GFWC GUEST — Dover-Foxcroft Town Manager Jack Clukey, left, was guest speaker at the Nov. 4 GFWC/Miosac Club meeting. He was introduced by Mae Johnson, right.

President Vicki Moschella called the meeting to order. Mae Johnson led the Collect, American’s Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
In the absence of Secretary Cathie Goodine, Pat Jones took roll call and read the minutes which were accepted with one correction.
Carol Kilpatrick gave the treasurer’s report. Diane Leighton read correspondence from the Kiwanis regarding the Community Christmas Project. Members voted to participate as we have in years past with donation from the club and members. The club will also act as elves to help with the shopping. Vicki sold some dolls and the money will also go to the Kiwanis project. Vicki Moschella read a thank-you note from Minnie McCormick for the beautiful bouquet and cards she received.
Pat Jones reported that she and Barb Austin have planted the daffodil bulbs at the Marion Doore Park. Discussion followed regarding getting the Boy Scouts to clean up the park. Carol Kilpatrick will take care of that.
Carol then reported on the formation of a new scholarship. The committee has met and has made good progress. It will be tweaked and then presented to the club for approval.
Minnie McCormick announced the next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 18 with Adam Sheean and Diane Parola presenting “Banking for Seniors.” Roxy McGlauflin is in charge of the program. It was also announced that our Christmas meeting has been changed to Barb Austin’s home on Dec. 2.
Vicki Moschella reported on the posters she and Leona put out for “Make a Difference Day.” Three members made the posters informing people to be aware of elder abuse. “Elder Abuse Awareness” is GFWC/Maine President Marjorie Goodwin’s project for the next two years. More posters will be made and placed in different areas around town.
