GFWC MIOSAC Club 87th birthday party

The General Federation of Women’s ClubsMIOSAC Club of Dover-Foxcroft has celebrated its 87th birthday. The club was organized and federated in 1936. It is an annual function of this club to have a party for the last meeting of their fiscal year. MIOSAC stands for “Modern Ideals of Service and Culture,” named in 1936.

The party was held on May 16 at the Craft Cafe in Guilford with 14 members attending. Most had not been there before and found the amenities roomy, comfortable and decorated nicely. The food was served in six courses and was delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

President Minnie McCormick and Vice President Wendy Hutchins spoke about the GFWC Maine Spring Convention held in Bangor with five attending. They were entertained by Elvis Presley, represented by Don  Boudreau, at the Friday night banquet.

Fun was had by all. Another year “wrapped up.”

The next club event will be on July 15 for a yard sale on Lincoln Street (there will be an ad in the paper).
