Foxcroft Academy track sweeps home meet
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy track finished in first place in both the boys and girls standings at a home Penobscot Valley Conference meet on April 27.
The boys had 11 first-place performances to help tally 169 points, tops among a field of five schools.
Fernando Oliveiva won the 100 and 200 with respective times of 12.56 and 25.11 seconds. He also anchored the top 4×100 relay team as Jackson Smith, Landon Smith, Eion Mccloskey, and Oliveiva combined for a time of 48.78 seconds.
Jackson Smith came in first in both the high jump and triple jump at 5 feet, 10 inches and 35-08.50.
Zachary Peirce finished in the 400 with his time of 61.75 seconds.
Runner Jarrett placed first in the 3,200 at 10:38.54.
The Ponies swept the hurdles with Jack Kingsbury winning the 110-meter race in 19.44 seconds and Aiden Bryant taking top honors at 300 meters at 51.56 seconds.
The Foxcroft 4×400 relay won in a time of 4:41.81 as Bryant, Douglas Rowe, Peirce, and Mccloskey each ran a lap.
Ivan Mutafchiev had the day’s top throw in the javelin at 108-02.
The Dexter Regional High School boys came in second in Dover-Foxcroft with 94 points.
Brady Jerome finished first in the shot put with his throw measuring 32-06. He also came in second in the discus at 78-05.
Alex Morris placed second in the 400 in 62.73 seconds, as was Tanner Ladd in the shot put at 31-09.
The Tigers had a pair of third-place performances in the jumps, Noah Benson in the high jump at 4-10 and Darmiar Miller in the triple jump at 34-06.
Finished fourth at the meet was Penquis Valley High School with a score of 50 points.
Billy Sanborn ran to a first-place performance in the 1,600 with his time of 5:40.22. He also came in third in the javelin at a distance of 95-05.
The Patriots had a pair of second-place finishes. Chris Crockett was the 800 runner-up in 2:44.04, and Lucas Chai was second in the triple jump at 34-07.50.
Greenville High School came in fifth with 45 points.
Ethan Pratt earned first place in the 800 with his time of 2:30.00.
Lance Owens came in second in the javelin with a throw of 100-01.
In the girls’ meet, a score of 108 points put Foxcroft in first place among five schools as the Ponies came in first in a half dozen events.
Alexis Heretakis had the fastest time of the 100 in 14.68 seconds. She also ran on both winning relays.
In the 4×100 Abigail Knapp, Heretakis, Hilary Howard, and Pagie Weidman combined for a time of 57.19 seconds. Heidi Clawson, Howard, Heretakis, and Knapp won the 4×400 in 5:03.01.
Howard came in first in the 200 with her time of 31.09 seconds.
The Ponies had first-place throws from Allison Smith in the shot put at 26-08 and Olivia Hill in the discus at 78-07.
Sixty-five points put the Dexter girls in third place.
Lauryn Brenner led the Tigers with a pair of first-place performances. She won the long and triple jumps at 14-05.50 and 29-00.50. Brunner also came in second in the high jump at 4-02.
Elyssa Jerome came in first in the 100 hurdles in 20.28 seconds. She was second in the 100 at 14.71 seconds.
Brooklyn Blocker added a second-place performance in the discus with her throw of 70-11.
Penquis came in fourth at the meet with 52 points.
Abigail Conlogue earned top honors in the javelin with her throw measuring 89-08. She also came in second in the 200 at 32.50 seconds, and was part of the second-place 4×100 relay as Sky Guzy, Addison Conklin, Conlogue, and Jahlysa Cruz combined for 60.14 seconds.
Naima Ali was second in the shot put 25-08.50.
For Greenville, Aurora Page scored her team’s four points in the discus. Page finished fourth in the event with a throw of 56-09.
