HOMECOMING GOLF SCRAMBLE — The annual Homecoming Golf Scramble, held on Aug., 2 at the Foxcroft Golf Club, raised over $7,000 for the Horizon Scholarship program at Foxcroft Academy. Pictured is 1975 Foxcroft Academy graduate Cory Campbell teeing off during the scramble.

The Foxcroft Academy administration wishes to sincerely thank this year’s sponsors and the Horizon Golf Scramble Committee — Ethan Annis ’03, Danny White ’03, Cathy Hall, Anthony Phillips ’79, Bobbie Nickerson ’92 and Cory Campbell ’75 — for making this year’s tournament the most successful in history.
Campbell, Dave Porter, Sr., Dave Porter, Jr., and Jay Munson fired a 28 (-8) to post the best overall score at the nine-hole scramble. Earlier in the day, Campbell and Porter, Jr. teamed with Bryan Chase ’76 and Brian Campbell ’74 to take second with a score of 29. Jim Iannetta, Josh Iannetta ’96, Jake Iannetta ’01 and TJ Mynahan also shot a 29 and took third after tie-breakers were applied.
Individual prizes were awarded to Bobby Sawyer ’80 (men’s longest drive); Joanne Strout Sincyr ’69 (women’s longest drive); Dan Rosebush ’07 (men’s closest to the line); Sarah Keenan Eluk ’97 (women’s closest to the line); and to Tom Harvey ’68, Jack Sincyr, Marianne Mulherin, Mark Chevalier, Jake Iannetta, Karen Harvey, Campbell (twice), Josh Iannetta, Joanne Sincyr and Porter, Sr. for being closest to the pin on holes 4, 6, or 7 throughout the day.
The $7,000 raised at this year’s event will benefit the Foxcroft Academy Horizon Scholarship program, which was founded in 1992 to provide students with learning opportunities outside the walls of FA. A record 22 students applied for Horizon Scholarships this spring, and nearly $9,000 was awarded to them. These students will participate in programs ranging from Bangor to San Francisco, including national youth leadership forums on medicine and technology, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and music camps, to name a few.
