Talk by Maine storyteller Friday evening

lo-kinneymug-dcX-po-33    DEXTER — On Friday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Wendall Kinney, Maine storyteller, will share his humorous stories about growing up on a farm on the Crawford Road.

    Experience the incredible storms and impossible farm animals the Kinney family encountered during the 1940s and 1950s. Kendall’s stories involve many local people including Bobby Getchell, Hod McKenney, and Harry Merrill. Kendall attended the Spring Street School and later N.H. Fay. Scheduled to graduate with the class of 1954, his family moved from the area before he could do so.
    Now a resident of Brunswick, Kinney has written poetry and a book of short stories. He has recently released a new CD, “The Bull And I, Maine Humor with a Twist.” All stories he tells are true but, “with a bit of blarney added for flavor.”
    This program will be held at the Abbott Museum on Church Street across from the Universalist Church. The program is free and is sponsored by the Abbott Memorial Library and the Dexter Historical Society. For more information, please call 924-7292.
