SeDoMoCha shines the spotlight on outstanding students and staff

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Each month the SeDoMoCha School recognizes “Students in the Spotlight” celebrating pupils from kindergarten to grade 8 and a staff member who teachers and staff have determined best demonstrate a specific positive attribute or characteristic chosen for the timeframe from the Habits of Mind (a set of life skills for educators and parents). The March “Questioning” honorees were recognized on March 17.

Recognized for “Questioning” were Sierra Sprague (kindergarten), Preston Sargent (grade 1), Eliza Cary (grade 2), Ron Tyler (grade 3),  Kinsley Hall (grade 4), Lillian Arcaro (elementary unified arts), Eleanor Journey (grade 5), Callie Mitchell (grade 6), Matthew Baird (grade 7), Tanyon Gibbs (grade 8), Kaleb Worthing (middle unified arts), and Carolyn Clark (staff winner).

Criteria includes these students are always working to understand the why, how, what, when and where of things and go beyond simple questions; these students look for problems to solve, analyze what they need to know and go beyond what is being taught to pose related questions about the world we live in; they search for patterns in old and new information to help them make deeper discoveries with their questioning; and they pose hypothetical questions and questions about differing points of view. 

Students were called down to the multipurpose room on March 17 to receive their certificates during a presentation with teachers speaking on each recipient.
