AARP’s legislative priorities

To the Editor;

As the current state director and the new volunteer state president of AARP Maine, we are honored to work with and serve Maine’s 50-plus community. With the legislative session underway, we are excited by all the initiatives AARP Maine is advocating for and wish to highlight a few of our key 2022 priorities.

We will continue with the momentum we saw last session in the fight to lower the cost of prescription drugs and increase pricing transparency in Maine. This fight is a key component to giving all Mainers the ability to stay well and age independently.

AARP Maine knows now, more than ever, we rely on high-speed internet connection to make a living, stay healthy and connect with loved ones. This session, we are dedicated to the support of advocacy and investments in high-speed internet throughout the state.

AARP Maine is committed to ensuring that providers of electricity, gas, landline, wireless and broadband offer services customers can depend on and afford.

Every aspect of AARP Maine’s work is supported and guided by members of the community, and we know that our group of committed and tireless volunteers is the reason AARP is such a powerful advocacy group for the entire community of adults 50-plus and their families.

We look forward to serving you in 2022!
