2-0 — SeDoMoCha Middle School seventh-grader Kylie Dow is up to bat during a May 8 game at Howland. The Eagles began the year at 2-0 with victories in Milo and in Howland.

There are however many familiar faces from last year’s team. Coach Jack Clukey, scorebook keeper Sheila Dow, eighth-graders Jenna Clukey and Kiara Prescott and seventh-graders Mariah Poulin, Hannah Sprecher, Kylie Dow, Cailin Seavey, Makenzie Beaudry, Abby Ewer and Lexi London. New to this year’s roster are eighth-graders Jordan Campbell and Hayley Grant, seventh- graders McKenna Higgins and Bre Jazowsk, sixth-graders Cassidy Marsh, Olivia Wesley and Jenna Anderson and Karis Dankert as manager.
On May 6 the Eagles defeated the Penquis Valley Middle School team in a 29-1 game in Milo. On May 8 the Eagles traveled to Howland and came away with a 16-3 victory.
Eighth-grader Jenna Clukey was the starting pitcher for the season opener in Penquis.  Clukey had a great outing striking out 10 and only allowing one hit and one walk. Mackenzie Beaudry came in to pitch the sixth inning to close out the game. Catching for the Eagles was Prescott who did a great job keeping the ball away from the back stop.  The rest of the Eagles defense also did a great job keeping Penquis to only one run. The infield starters for the Eagles were Seavey at first base, Poulin at second with Jazowski at shortstop and Sprecher at third. In the outfield was Grant in left, Campbell in center, and Beaudry in right. Wesley made substitutions later in the game moving Clukey to first, London to third, Ewer went in at shortstop, Dow on second, Anderson in right, Wesley to center and Higgins to left.
Penquis was plagued by a number of walks and aggressive base running by the Eagles early in the game. SeDoMoCha was able to build an early lead and the defense was able to limit the number of base runners for Penquis.
In the second game of the week Clukey had another strong outing in Howland, pitching seven full innings and striking out 15 Cougars while walking only two. Wesley switched the starters up a little with Higgins on third, Dow on second, Beaudry at shortstop and Sprecher in rightfield. Later in the game he put London in at third, Ewer at shortstop, Jazowski and Marsh each saw an inning in left, Poulin at second and Wesley went in at right. Leading the Eagles on offense was Prescott, getting on base five out of six trips to the plate.
On tap for the week of May 12, the Eagles were scheduled to face PCMS at their home field on Morton Avenue on Monday and Wednesday the team welcomes the Howland Cougars. The following week the Greenville Lakers come to town on Tuesday, May 20 to face off at the Morton Avenue field and the Eagles travel to Guilford on Friday, the 23rd. All weekday games are at 4 p.m.
