Northern Light CA Dean Hospital receives $500,000 Community Challenge Grant
Generous donor will match every campaign gift through the end of the year
GREENVILLE — Northern Light CA Dean Hospital is excited to announce an opportunity for donors to double the impact of their Preserving the Promise capital campaign gift in support of building a new hospital in Greenville. When a gift or pledge is made to the campaign through Dec. 31, it will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor.
“This is the community’s chance to make the biggest possible impact in the effort to build a new hospital in the Moosehead Lake Region and preserve the promise of outstanding healthcare close to home for generations to come,” says Laurie Muzzy, campaign co-chairperson. “Community support of the project is essential, as more than 40 percent of the cost will be funded by philanthropy.”
Every gift and pledge made to the Challenge will stay in Greenville to support the new hospital project. Included in the project are a new main hospital building with five private patient “flex care” rooms, 24/7 emergency department, imaging, and lab; a new, separate ambulance garage; and an FAA-approved helipad. The existing East Wing will be renovated to house 10 all private long-term skilled care beds. Primary care and select specialty care services will continue to be provided in existing spaces in Greenville, Sangerville and Monson.
“This hospital touches the life of nearly every person who lives in the Moosehead Lake Region,” says Helen Dutil, campaign co-chairperson. “There is a lot of momentum in our community for this project, and now is the time for us to come together to make this opportunity a success, all the way to the $500,000 goal.”
The $500,000 goal must be reached by the end of the year to unlock the matching half million-dollar gift. Gifts and pledges made by individuals and small businesses will be doubled; foundation gifts are not eligible for the match.
To kick off the Challenge, longtime CA Dean supporters and owners of Indian Hill Trading Post in Greenville have made a $150,000 gift to the hospital’s capital campaign to encourage local support. Stuart Watt has served on the hospital’s board of directors for more than 17 years and is the current vice chairperson of the board, and his son, Craig Watt, is a member of the CA Dean capital campaign committee.
“CA Dean is a vital part of our community and a great neighbor. Our family is proud to make an investment in the new hospital to preserve care in the Moosehead Region,” says Craig Watt.
“This Challenge grant is an outstanding opportunity for our local community to double the impact of their commitment to CA Dean. We are pleased to make the first gift to get the Challenge rolling and hope other local individuals and small businesses will join us,” says Stuart Watt.
The Challenge kicks off today and will be celebrated throughout the weekend at Greenville’s Fourth of July Celebration. CA Dean staff will be on hand at the town gazebo to show renderings of the building, share information, answer questions and share a special campaign token of gratitude.
