Tourism workshop scheduled for April 22

GUILFORD — Businesses can learn how to tap into the tour bus trade by attending the workshop “How to Make Your Business Motorcoach Friendly.” The interactive workshop will help businesses determine if they are ready for tour buses to schedule a stop at their restaurant, farm, or attraction.

The motorcoach industry generates significant economic impact, with daily spending for each person estimated at $75, according to a 2009 report by the American Bus Association. “With an average of 55 travelers per coach, that is more than $4,000 that could be spent here during a one- day bus tour,” said Janet Sawyer of the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council. “Our local businesses could use that income.”
Maine Office of Tourism’s Donna Moreland will present the workshop on Tuesday, April 22 10 a.m. to
1 p.m, lunch included, at the Guilford United Methodist Church — 3 School Street, Pre-register by emailing Sawyer at jsawyer@pcedc.org or by calling 564-3638. The workshop is made possible through funding from USDA Rural Development, Maine Woods Consortium, and Piscataquis County Economic Development Council.
