Briggs hired as Waldoboro town manager

Staff Report

WALDOBORO — Former Dexter Town Manager Linda-Jean Briggs has been hired as town manager of Waldoboro, effective Monday, March 10.
According to the Lincoln County News, the Waldoboro Board of Selectmen voted unanimously at their March 4 workshop meeting to hire Briggs to succeed John Spear, who is now the administrative assistant of South Thomaston.

Briggs resigned from the Dexter position last Oct. 25 after reaching a separation agreement with the town. She was hired in November 2011 on a six-month probationary period and the town council unanimously voted to retain her in April 2012.
Her salary at the time of her departure was $63,000 a year; her new position in Waldoboro pays $70,000 annually.
Briggs took early retirement from Verizon in 2008 and pursued her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Rhode Island. She also served as the legislative liaison for the Rhode Island League of Women Voters.
Briggs and husband of 25 years, Adam, still live in Dexter, but plan to relocate to the Waldoboro area.
