Potluck a chance to learn about Jack Does That Hour Exchange
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Folks participating in the Jack Does That Hour Exchange and members of the community who would like to learn about the exchange are invited to a potluck gathering on the evening of Friday, Feb. 28 at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church.
Hour exchanges, also known as ‘time banks” offer people a way to provide and receive services using time instead of dollars as currency. A Jack Does That member might earn an hour shoveling snow, for example, and then spend an hour to get a ride to an appointment. Two important principles of Jack Does That are that all hours are equal and that everyone has something to give.
Friday’s gathering is a chance for Jack Does That members to talk about exchanges they have made and share ideas about different ways people can use the exchange. They would especially like to encourage others who are curious about time banking to come learn what it’s all about. To that end, a few members will give short “Jack Chats” about what participating in the exchange has been like for them. The event starts at 6 p.m. and ends when it feels done. Bring a friend, a dish to share and join the fun.
