‘Peter Pan. Jr.’ comes to the Center Theatre
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Children, music, costumes, and a classic story meet in Disney’s “Peter Pan, Jr.”, opening Friday, Feb. 14 at 7 PM at the Center Theatre and continuing for six performances until Feb. 22.
“Peter Pan, Jr.” is a new stage adaptation by Music Theatre International, based on the Disney movie and the book by J.M. Barrie. It includes the Darling Family, Indians, Lost Boys, mermaids, fairies and of course, pirates. The opening night performance will be followed by a reception with drinks and treats for both adults and kids.
“As with any of our children’s productions, this has been an incredible group effort between our production team, theatre staff, the kids, and their supportive parents,” says Executive Director Angela Bonacasa. “And with the terrible weather and illnesses this winter, this year’s process has been particularly challenging. But the actors and their parents have worked incredibly hard, and the production reflects it. It’s a wonderful show.”
“Peter Pan, Jr.” is the beginning of children’s events at the Center Theatre for 2014. The theatre is expanding its educational opportunities for kids, beginning with the first “Cabin Fever Theatre Camp,” during the week of February 17-21. Classes will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and will include master classes in voice, stage combat, dance and more. The summer will see the theatre’s very popular drama damp and Slightly Off-Center Players’ production of “The Wizard of Oz”, which will have many roles available for both adults and kids.
The shows are Feb. 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 16 and 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.centertheatre.org or Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and one hour before showtime over the phone or in person at the box office.
