Keep the family together

To Editor;

I am writing this letter that it may help some family to stay together, for the sake of the children.

Before I moved to Sangerville 46 years ago, I worked as a custodian in a K-6 grade and then I worked in a grade 7-8 school. In both schools I saw some very sad and depressed students. The younger children did not understand why their mother or father was not coming home any more and the older boys and girls became very angry and some needed help. Children are the biggest losers.

We have some people that think the greatest threat to children’s welfare is living in poverty. I disagree, it’s the breakup of the family with men and women who don’t honor their marriage vows. To turn things around, we should get back to teaching the Golden Rule to treat others as you want to be treated and we will have way less men and women that think “life is all about me, myself and I”. Also keep in-laws away that like to meddle in your marriage and if you want a stronger marriage, pay close attention to these words. Your marriage will become stronger and your children will benefit.

The woman came out of the man’s rib; not from his feet “to be walked on,” not from his head “to be superior” but from the side “to be equal” under the arm “to be protected” and next to the heart “to be loved.” Think about these words and try very hard to live by them.

Men must be the “head not the tail” and women are the “backbone.” Men need women as much as women need men, equal partnership, and men must come to know and respect women for their values.

Think about these words and try very hard to live by them when you can. Don’t forget to take your family to church each Sunday.
