Center Theatre to show blockbuster movie by donation

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts in Dover-Foxcroft announced that they will be showing “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” by donation the weekend of Feb. 1-2.  This will be the first time that the Center Theatre has shown a major new release by donation.

Since its opening weekend, “Catching Fire” spent six weeks in the top 10 movies nationwide and has grossed over $400 million. The Center Theatre will be showing the film for one weekend only on Saturday Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.
Angela Bonacasa, Executive Director of the Center Theatre, said that if this is well-received, they may do it again when their schedule allows. “We still have to pay for the rights to show the movie, so we hope that movie-goers will donate a few dollars to offset the cost of the film,” Bonacasa said, “but it is a way we can show our appreciation for everyone who has supported movies at the Center Theatre over the years.”
For more information, call 564-8943 or visit www.centertheatre.org. The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts center dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands.
