New program manager and volunteer coordinator at The Commons

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Commons at Central Hall is growing with programs and activities to serve the Piscataquis area. In order to fulfill the mission statement to “provide programs that create and preserve memories, build community, and enhance personal vitality by including people of all ages” successfully, a new program manager, Jeremy Loguercio, and a new volunteer coordinator, Jessica Brasier, were hired in September.

Tara Smith reported, “I am eager to be a part of this growth and newly forming team as the development director of The Commons at Central Hall.”

The role of the program manager encompasses a number of responsibilities as overseer of the day-to-day programming of the non-profit. Marketing, computer skills, interfacing with the various organizations and individuals within the community, building a volunteer network, researching new, exciting program additions and knowledge of non-profit budgets are just a few of the many tasks.

Loguercio holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine in business administration. As a lifelong resident of Dover-Foxcroft and graduate of Foxcroft Academy, he has an understanding and love for the community. He sees his new role as an opportunity to provide diverse programs and events for everyone in the area.

“I want the community to know that The Commons is a place for entertainment, education and social interactions,” Loguercio said.

Music is and has been an important piece of Loguercio’s life. He is a guitarist and songwriter having played in many bands over the years. Loguercio is excited about the new acoustic panels to be installed to enhance music delivery to audiences because he plans to include more musical events at Central Hall. Two other programs on his mind are an activity program for social work consumers and an “open to the public art program” featuring a variety of styles and mediums for people at all skill levels.

Assisting Loguercio is Brasier, the new volunteer coordinator. She will work to find enthusiastic people to act as volunteers to support the many programs at The Commons at Central Hall. Volunteering involves a level of time investment that can lead to education, social interaction and fun needed for personal vitality.

Brasier and her family came to Maine 16 years ago from California to live a quieter, simpler life. She worked there in the non-profit sector at Integrated Immigrant Senior Service Program helping to create social outlets for immigrant seniors found in multigenerational homes. She supported and participated in community-based programming and fundraising in Newton, New Hampshire’s recreation project. Her work in the past 15 years has been in the support areas of medical, health and wellness fields. Brasier lives with her husband and four children on Lake Wassokeag in Dexter.

“The thing I am most excited about in developing this (volunteer) base for the community is for our residents to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment in all the good we aim to offer with The Commons as a resource,” Brasier said.

The Commons 5K Glow Run/Walk on Saturday, October 26 at 6 p.m. and the Fall Folk Festival on Saturday, November 9 at 2 p.m. are upcoming highlights at The Commons at Central Hall made possible by the team’s creative efforts.
