Dexter age-friendly group initiates Tea Talks

DEXTER — On Thursday, Oct. 10 from 10 until 11:30 a.m. the Dexter Age-Friendly Community Committee will hold its first “Tea Talks” session at the “Gatherings 4 Main Street” community center at 4 Main Street.

This free event will feature complimentary coffee or tea and pastry to anyone who attends. The presentation will include information about the “EDGE” assistance program explained by George Dever, program director. Also, Denise Webb, RN, from the Dexter Public Health Association will discuss the organization’s work to provide free nursing services within the Dexter, Garland and Ripley communities. While enjoying refreshments, attendees can participate in a trivia contest with a prize for the winner.

Tea Talks will occur each month. It will provide an opportunity to socialize and gain information about area programs that might be helpful to community members.

Dexter Age Friendly Community Committee’s mission is to improve access, safety, and social interaction for the aged and aging residents of Dexter as well as working to enable people of all ages to actively and safely participate in community activities. It functions through the efforts of community volunteers and is program-funded by donations and grants.
