HOMECOMING PARADE MARSHAL — Daniel O. Hurd Jr. served as parade marshal for the 2019 Dover-Foxcroft Shiretown Homecoming parade on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 3, a “Home on the Range — Take 2” procession rescheduled due to rain one year prior. A farmer his whole life, Hurd bought his first farm on the Shaw Road in 1970 before buying a farm on the Bear Hill Road where he still milks cows today with his son Daniel and grandson Brandon Weston. Hurd has been a familiar face for many years at the Piscataquis Valley Fair, supplying cows for the agricultural area and helping out in the livestock barns. He could be seen cheering on his daughter Jo Hurd Weston during livestock shows and competitions and continues today cheering on his grandchildren Brandon and Brooke Weston.
