Chamber Business After Hours Mixer at Hibbard’s

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours event for Chamber members and local residents on Thursday, Aug. 8 from 5-7 p.m. This event is being hosted by Hibbard’s Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1037 West Main Street.

“Chamber ‘Business After Hours’ events are gatherings designed for our members,” said Chamber Executive Director Denise Buzzelli, “giving a business owner the opportunity to open his or her doors to the entire business community for a night of casual networking and socializing and bringing folks into your space that may not otherwise visit; our members really look forward to it.”

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS MIXER — Next month’s Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Mixer will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 at Hibbard’s Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1037 West Main Street in Dover-Foxcroft. The event will include tours.

The new administrator of Hibbard’s, Aaron Thomas, hopes to draw a large crowd on the 8th saying, “I am excited to welcome the community in; to see some changes we’ve made to the physical building, meet some of our talented and caring staff and learn more about the services we provide here.”

Hibbard’s is located on West Main Street, near Foxcroft Academy between the A.E. Robinson and the soon-to-open Piscataquis County Ice Arena. While driving past the beautiful campus is easy to recognize, the buildings are cared for and the grounds are well manicured. What passers-by might not realize, however, is that Hibbard’s is one of the area’s larger healthcare employers — apart from Mayo Regional Hospital — and that it is not just a nursing home facility. Other services include rehabilitation, dementia care and its less-known Main Street West assisted living apartments, one of which will be open to tour during the After Hours event.

Thomas is a proud graduate of Dexter Highschool and the University of Maine. Prior to becoming an administrator, he worked at Hibbard’s as the director of social work for many years and credits his time in that position learning from Jane Hibbard-Merrill and the Hibbard staff for making him the caregiver he is today. In 2013 First Atlantic Healthcare and Rosscare acquired Hibbard’s with a mission to carry on Jane’s legacy of caring, respect and excellence. Thomas said, “Since the acquisition of Hibbard’s and Main Street West, First Atlantic & Rosscare has invested time and valuable resources to make certain that Hibbards will remain a center for healthcare excellence for years to come.”

Attendees can expect light refreshments including meat, cheese and fresh fruit platters, cookies and pastries, coffee, tea, punch, beer, wine and other beverages. Those who attend can drop in a business card for a chance to win a door prize.

Those interested in attending should enter at the lower level, as the event will take place in the Main Street West building. An RSVP is preferred, please call the Chamber at 564-7533 prior to Aug. 6 or RSVP on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
