District plants Law Farm garden with help from PRYMCA campers

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On June 21 the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) held a Families in the Outdoors: Garden Fun! event at the Law Farm. During this event district staff, volunteers and Piscataquis Regional YMCA Camp Katahdin campers worked together to plant a new sunflower pollinator garden for the children’s area at the farm.

The PCSWCD received plant and soil amendment donations from Marr Pond Farm, Ripley Farm, Checkerberry Farm, Ellis’ Greenhouse & Nursery, Dover True Value, Bob’s Farm Home & Garden, Trailside Gardens, Thompson Free Library and Jackson ReGenerational Farm. The children’s garden project was a long-term goal for the PCSWCD and with the help from participating farms, businesses and volunteers, it is exciting to see it come to life. The public is encouraged to visit the Law Farm to enjoy the garden and the beautiful artwork by Donna Karla Gargaceran, winner of the PCSWCD poster contest.
