Robshaw named a Maine Sports Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award winner

MILO — Penquis Valley High School senior Cymeria Robshaw is one six members of the Class of 2019 from across the state being honored by the Maine Sports Hall of Fame with a $5,000 Scholar-Athlete Award. Robshaw and the other five will be recognized during the 44th Maine Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, May 19 at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.

A multi-sport athlete, Robshaw participated in soccer, track and field, basketball and softball for the Patriots. Her most significant athletic accolades were earned on the soccer field and on the track.

Robshaw was named Class C Player of the Year in soccer and was named to the Northern Maine Class C All-Star Team and the Northern Maine Class C All-State Team. She was the highest-scoring girls soccer player in school history.

At the Class B indoor track championship Robshaw won the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.33 seconds to finish the season undefeated in the event at Maine competitions. Robshaw also won the Class B triple jump title at a distance of 36 feet, 1.75 inches. She came in second in the long jump at 18-03.75.

The pair of indoor titles followed two outdoor state championships for Robshaw. As a junior last spring she won both the triple and long jumps at the Class C state meet. She jumped respective distances of 34-10.50 and 17-02 in June. At the 2018 Class C championship, Robshaw also came in third at 100 meters.

As a dedicated member of her school community, Robshaw served as president of the Key Club, vice president of the Student Council, secretary of the National Honor Society and class Secretary all four years. In the fall Robshaw will attend the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she intends to major in biology and continue her athletic endeavors as part of the track & field team.
