SeDoMoCha shines the spotlight on outstanding students

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Each month the SeDoMoCha School recognizes “Students in the Spotlight,” celebrating pupils from kindergarten to grade 8 who teachers and staff have determined best demonstrate a specific positive attribute or characteristic chosen for the timeframe from the Habits of Mind (a set of life skills for educators and parents). Following a snow day last month, the February and March Students in the Spotlight were honored together during an all-school assembly in the gym on the morning of March 14.

Principal Adam Gudroe welcomed family and friends of the more than 20 Students in the Spotlight — most of whom did not know these guests were invited. He said the February Students in the Spotlight all have shown “creating, imagining and innovating, and this month is questioning: asking good questions, demonstrating curiosity and finding problems to solve. I know that’s something many of you do well.”

CREATIVE STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT — During a March 14 assembly a number of pupils at the SeDoMoCha School in Dover-Foxcroft were recognized as February Students in the Spotlight for demonstrating creating, imagining and innovating, the positive attribute or characteristic chosen for the timeframe from the Habits of Mind. The February and March Students in the Spotlight were called up individually by grade to receive a certificate and water bottle from their teachers and Gudroe after the adults told the audience about how the pupils earned the honor.

The February honorees are kindergarten, Landen Gormley; grade 1, Everett Richards; grade 3, Jack Gallagher; grade 4, Kailee Havaas; grade 5, Michael Rosso; grade 6, Carter Lile; grade 7, Owen Sherman; grade 8, Jada Lewis; elementary unified arts, Zoe Griffith-Klimetz; and middle school unified arts, Serenity McCabe.

This month’s Students in the Spotlight are kindergarten, Lucy Stevens; grade 1, Mathias Laurent; grade 2, Hunter Reed; grade 3, Mason Chapdelaine-Little; grade 4, Corey Goodwin; grade 5, Daniel Turgeon; grade 6, Ingrid Berling; grade 7, Colin Carpenter; grade 8, Brayden Rogers; elementary unified arts, Carter Merrill; and middle school unified arts, Ella Molaghan.

“Our next month’s habit of mind is being an effective communicator,” music teacher Alecia Talbot said at the conclusion of the presentation.
