Mayo nurse first in Maine to be inducted into fellowship academy

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — The first Maine nurse to receive fellowship in the Academy of Emergency Nursing will be recognized at an annual meeting of the Emergency Nurses Association this week in Nashville, Tenn.

    Lynne Gagnon, RN, BSN, MS, CPHQ, NEA-BC is one out of just 101 nurses to be considered for fellowship in this academy. The fellowship recognizes emergency nurses who have made enduring, substantial contributions to emergency nursing, advance the profession of emergency nursing and provide visionary leadership to the Emergency Nurses Association and the Academy of Emergency Nursing.
    “Gagnon served as the national association’s president in 1991 and was part of the group that established the Trauma Nursing Course and was instrumental in establishing a committee to focus on our pediatric patients in our emergency department.” says Mayo Regional Hospital CEO Dr. David McDermott. “She has been an outstanding contributor among our medical staff and has continued to help improve the quality of healthcare here at the hospital” McDermott concludes.
    Gagnon has been employed at Mayo Regional Hospital since 2005 and presently serves as vice president of Patient Care Services. Gagnon also recently completed requirements to become a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
